I have nearly 30 years experience, training in Wado Ryu karate and
started training at fourteen years of age. I have also trained in
boxing, judo and competed in (PKA) full contact karate and worked as
a bouncer and so understand the application of karate and martial
arts in real life situations. Traditional karate and martial arts
are very effective fighting systems in their purist form, which
needs dedicated training and hard work to become accomplished at. I
have trained with Japanese masters such as Tatsuo Suzuki, M. Shiomitsu, Kuniaki Sakagami plus
Tony Heap Gary Swift, Mick Rapley and Paul Elliott back
when training methods were very different from today. It was
great character building training when you passed a grading you felt
you had really accomplished something and not just been given it.
Training methods have changed slightly now, and are safer and more
friendly than back then.
As an instructor I like to keep the same intensity and work
ethic in my training as my instructors did with me.
Our club is not a commercial belt selling business. If you
train at any of our clubs (dojo) you will be given the knowledge to
pass your grading and rise to the next level in order to do this
through hard work and training are required. In short you will have
to earn it. I have joined the SEMKA organisation as I believe they uphold the spirit, principles and quality of training that I have come to believe in.
